Politics

Politics

  1. Politics is nothing but culture of a government or we can say art of managing government. It also involves influencing other parties, making policies and holding control over the government.

It united states; two political parties form the government whereas in the countries like India spread or stretch of politics is far ahead. Almost 15-20 political parties form the government. Consider a situation where you persuade your friend about a career path he doesn’t want to take but what will happen when you are asked to persuade whole class for same thing. It is not an easy task. Unrealistic hopes and commitments from politicians make people frustrated and cause resentment.

Whenever politicians get elected then ofcourse they can’t fulfill each and every promise they made. They can’t make our world perfect which they showed us as their dream job. From here politics starts affecting society and unrest becomes usual. Politics, if not pure, hampers growth of the country in several ways like economically, politically and even at personal level.

Latest examples of adverse politics and unrest caused by it are Egypt crisis, Libya uprising. People rejected tyranny and supreme power of country. Social media played a key role in it. We can learn something out of it. It does not matter whether it is a national level or corporate level or group or personal level, people always reject negative politics.

  2. I believe this theme refers more to office politics.

Speaking of office politics, when most people hear the term 'office politics' they get negative images and associate negative feelings to the term. The images that come to mind when we mention office politics are images of the yes-sir's of the corporate world and terms such as 'brown-nosing'.

I believe that office politics get a bad rap based on what we see in the media and the negative experiences people have had with office politics malpractices.

Having worked in the corporate world for a while now, I have observed that those who always have office politics on their minds when managing their relationships and their career strategies are the ones that end up succeeding (if we measure success in terms of climbing the corporate ladder). Now let me explain what being political means (to me anyway). Being political means getting along with all the people that you have contact across your (and any external) organization. It also means being known for being things like "easy to work with', collaborative, 'a nice guy', helpful and 'always having a good attitude'. I have observed that being characterized by one of these or similar terms as well as being knowledgeable in whatever field you work in is the key to being noticed and promoted. I can list countless of examples in the corporations that I have worked in where it was the people that were easier to work with that ended up being promoted and not the ones with all the years of experience or that were supposed to be next in line.

Like I mentioned above, you also have to be competent in whatever field/area you work in, but your ability to get along and be able to work with (and through) as many different individuals and levels within your organization is the key to achieving success. I think this is the true meaning of office politics and also why I think being political in everything you do at work is one of the keys to possessional success.

  4. Office politics is very difficult to be avoided. It always happens in any situation. Because we could not avoid it, we only could face it.

I believe it has both positive and negative ways. Politics is heard like a dark word because someone wants to manipulate for self interest or rumors between small groups. However, it could be positive.

To be with your boss, you could try to find a comfortable way to communicate with, find best time or place to talk with, and create good relationship. To be with your colleagues, you could try to help others when they are in trouble and do not say rumors behind others. No matter be with boss or colleagues, politics happens where people around. Everyone should try to handle good relationship with others to survive.
